Many Christians view salvation as an epic battle for the souls of this world. A fight that they have joined, between God and Satan, to get as many people to confess the name of Jesus before death and the fires of hell overtake them.

Are Christians mandated to convert the whole world now? So much effort is done to that end: missionary activity, evangelical outreach, soul-winning, revival campaigns, neighborhood Bible studies, personal testimonials and so on.

If this life is our only time to come to know Christ then one could easily come to the conclusion that God is failing as the vast majority of mankind has never truly come to know Jesus let alone have “called on His name.” (Act 2:21)

Fortunately God’s desire is for all mankind to come to know Him. As a loving and just Creator, He has started a process and a plan that will give all who have ever lived a chance to truly know and choose. God “desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3–4).
