This article discusses the recently launched “He Gets Us” ad campaign. The stated goal of this campaign is to reintroduce people to the Jesus of the Bible. Unfortunately, the approach that is often taken by these campaigns is to highlight specific traits of Jesus while ignoring the sum total of why He actually came. A watered down version of the Man. This contextually lacking and incomplete view of Jesus often promotes a come as you are mentality which couldn’t be further from the actual message and gospel of Christ. A message highlighting a lifelong need for His followers to repent, change and strive to emulate His example; a disciplined life that is focused on the soon coming Kingdom of God to this earth headed by a ruling Messiah…the true Jesus of the Bible.
